3 Most Inspirational Movie Speeches

Those spine tingling inspirational dialogues in films always feel like they’re talking directly to you. Certain films have the ability to completely capture your full attention, and that’s even more so with inspiring and motivational speeches. Here’s a few of my favourite movie speeches, delivered by some very good actors.

The Pursuit of Happiness

“Don’t ever let somebody tell you, you can’t do something.”

The Pursuit of Happiness is very moving throughout, and Will Smith’s wise words in this scene, is arguably the most profound moment of the whole film. He tells his son to always protect and chase his dreams, and even though the speech is only about thirty seconds long, the message is nothing short of inspiring.

Rocky Balboa

“It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

If Sylvester Stallone tells you to do something, you do it. No question. He’s not the type of guy you’d want to argue with. In this scene, Rocky gives his son some strong words of advice about the importance of believing in yourself. It’s definitely one of the greatest movie speeches of all time, because it’s grounded in absolute truth.

Good Will Hunting

“I’d do anything to fuckin’ have what you got … It’d be an insult to us if you’re still here in twenty years.”

Although Ben Affleck’s character Chuckie, completely berates Matt Damon’s Will Hunting, it’s his sharp tone of voice, and simplicity of his words that make them so endearing. Will is a mathematical genius and Chuckie tries to help push him to greatness.

Are there any inspirational speeches from films that you particularly love? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I wanted to be silly and jokingly suggest Amy Adam’s speech in the bar from Talladega Nights, but this list was actually pretty good so I decided to just give a sincere comment:

I totally had forgotten how inspiration the Rocky Balboa one was. Very nice to remember that one and include it.
